Squashing our ego
A series of talks based on Don't Believe Everything You Think given at Sravasti Abbey’s monthly Sharing the Dharma Day starting in March 2013. The book is a commentary on The 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas.
If an equal or inferior person
Disparages you out of pride,
Place her, as you would your spiritual teacher,
With respect on the crown of your head—
This is the practice of Bodhisattvas.
- Those who disparage us give us the opportunity to learn humility, kindness, and compassion
- If we have confidence in our good qualities, it won’t matter what others say about us
- We can own up to mistakes without seeing our self as a bad person
