Part of a series of teachings given during the Developing Meditative Concentration Retreat at Sravasti Abbey in 2010.

  1. Live in a favorable space
  2. Develop a clear and correct understanding of methods on how to practice
  3. Be free from very coarse desires and have few desires
  4. Develop sense of internal satisfaction and contentment
  5. Be free from involvement in worldly activities and commotion
  6. Live in pure ethical discipline

Venerable Thubten Chodron

Venerable Chodron emphasizes the practical application of Buddha’s teachings in our daily lives and is especially skilled at explaining them in ways easily understood and practiced by Westerners. She is well known for her warm, humorous, and lucid teachings. She was ordained as a Buddhist nun in 1977 by Kyabje Ling Rinpoche in Dharamsala, India, and in 1986 she received bhikshuni (full) ordination in Taiwan. Read her full bio.
