Developing bodhicitta

By Daniel

Daniel is relatively new to the Dharma. He’s young—in his early 30’s—and is serving a life sentence for driving the car during the time a friend committed a robbery and killed someone. He did not kill anyone. He shares how he is dealing with Covid-19 while in prison.

I’ve spent many years
confined inside these walls
that I once looked upon with dread,
not knowing that this concrete room
is only here
to provide me with warmth and shelter
as best as it can
while I cultivate bodhicitta wholeheartedly.

Incarcerated people
