Dealing with grief and loss

Teaching given at the Vimalakirti Buddhist Centre in Singapore.

  • Grief and loss are part of human existence
  • Everything that arises changes and is impermanent
    • Change is loss when lose something we do not want to lose
    • Change is gain when get something we wanted or liked
    • We have choice in how to respond to change
  • Rejecting impermanence is rejecting reality
  • Grief is a response to the change that we did not want
