- Spend some time with each of the eight qualities of the Dharma Jewel (inconceivable, being without the two, being without conceptualization, purity, clarity, antidotal class, true cessations, and true paths. Which are ultimate truths and which are conventional truths?
- How do these qualities relate to our spiritual practice? How do we apply them to our lives?
- Make some examples of how you believe things in your life exist inherently. What problems arise when we think things have a nature from their own side as they appear to us?
Venerable Thubten Chodron
Venerable Chodron emphasizes the practical application of Buddha’s teachings in our daily lives and is especially skilled at explaining them in ways easily understood and practiced by Westerners. She is well known for her warm, humorous, and lucid teachings. She was ordained as a Buddhist nun in 1977 by Kyabje Ling Rinpoche in Dharamsala, India, and in 1986 she received bhikshuni (full) ordination in Taiwan. Read her full bio.
