When we compare ourselves to other people, we usually wind up with either arrogance, thinking we're better, or jealousy, thinking we're worse. Neither of those is virtuous.”
The jealous mind is so nasty because it wants to take away somebody else's happiness. It's not just wanting the same happiness they have; it's not wanting them to be happy at all.”
Even though we may initially feel that we are deprived of the happiness that they are experiencing, we should rejoice if we really mean what we say in our prayers for them.”
