Venerable Chodron is currently giving teachings on "Mind Training Like Rays of the Sun" composed by Namkha Pel, a close disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa. This text is a commentary on the “Seven Point Mind Training” and is unique in that it combines the stages of the path with the mind-training tradition.

This teaching is broadcast live on the Internet every Thursday night at 6 PM Pacific Standard Time. Click here for more info.
The teachings will continue through 2009 and will be posted below as they become available.

Reviews: While Venerable Chodron travels, others in the monastic community lead the weekly teachings, reviewing the commentary on the text that had been covered by Ven. Chodron. They review the salient points and also bring their own experience and insights to the material. These talks, which begin March 2009, are marked as "Reviews."

The history includes inspiring accounts of the lengths to which the masters went to get the teachings. She explains how Bodhicitta is the nectar that leads to the non-abiding nirvana of enlightenment. She also explains the three early Kadam traditions and how they relate to our practice.

She goes on to discuss the section of the text entitled "The Unique Features, Value and Extraordinary Functions of this Secret Instruction." She talks about the benefits of the mind training practices and how they can help to transform unfavorable circumstances into favorable conditions for spiritual progress.

She explains how our body, possessions and friends do not help us when we die but that the karma we create in relationship to them does follow us at death. Ven. She talks about having a healthy relationship with our possessions, friends and our body.
