'Dharma: Compassion for a Happier Mind' with Venerable Thubten Chodron
Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 a.m. – noon Pacific Time | 21:00 – 22:00 p.m. TRT
A Dharma sharing and fundraising event to support earthquake relief in Turkey. Read Bridge to Turkey's Earthquake Report.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
The question of "How to be happy?" has occupied our minds for centuries. Stanford Compassion Ambassador Didem Ergin will moderate a discussion with Venerable Thubten Chödrön. We will pose various questions such as “How do we live a precious life without wasting it? What role does the notion of ‘happiness’ play in living a more meaningful life? Does having a compassionate heart-mind make one happy?”
The conversation will take place online (via Zoom) and will be in English with availability to listen via Turkish channel. The purpose of this event is to (1) help Dharma practitioners understand the connection between happiness and compassion and (2) provide funds to the Turkish earthquake zone, where in 2023 a 7.8-magnitude earthquake took place in Hatay and 10 other provinces in southern Turkey, killing more than 50,000 people.
This event is hosted by Dönüşen Zihin Platform which aims to provide psychoeducation to Turkish women on the subject of (self) compassion.
