Venerable Thubten Chodron recently gave extensive, multi-day, live commentary on ‘The Heart Sutra." The host, Gompa Services, has now made Part 1 available online, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Lhabab Duchen – the anniversary of Lord Buddha’s Descent from the Heaven of Thirty-Three. Part 2 will be posted after the first of the year.

The most concise of the profound Perfection of Wisdom Sutras, The Heart Sutra was spoken for the benefit of those aspiring to become fully enlightened Buddhas for the benefit of all beings. Stating that all phenomena are empty of inherent existence yet exist dependently, it presents the Buddhist view of both the ultimate and conventional natures. Gaining a full understanding of this sutra takes time, dedicated study, and meditation.
