Venerable Thubten Pema
Ven. Thubten Pema met the Dharma through the Amitabha Buddhist Centre in Singapore and took refuge with Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Concurrently she received teachings from Sravasti Abbey founder Ven. Thubten Chodron online and during her annual visits to Singapore. Before ordaining, Ven. Pema served as an online volunteer for the ThubtenChodron.org website and first visited the Abbey in July 2015 to attend the Exploring Monastic Life program. She returned to the Abbey later that year to join the winter retreat. Ven. Pema moved to the Abbey in 2016 to train as an anagarika and was ordained July 20, 2017. She received full ordination in Taiwan in 2023. In Singapore, Ven. Pema worked in the Information Technology sector assuming regional sales and alliance roles. Through the kindness of teachers and Dharma centers, she had the opportunity to attend Lamrim classes in Singapore, the Jangchup Lamrim teachings by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and received many teachings from other teachers. At the Abbey, Ven. Pema helps with supporting the care of the grounds and facilitating the Sravasti Abbey Friends Education (SAFE) distance learning program.
