YouTube: Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds

  • May 4, 2023 - May 4, 2023
  • 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Streamed on YouTube weekly Thursdays at 9 am Pacific Time

Join Venerable Thubten Chodron for live teachings on Shantideva’s classic text Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds. A text that the residents of Sravasti Abbey read annually on Christmas Day, this is a book that provides a road map to awakening you’ll keep coming back to. The Dalai Lama famously attributed any realization of compassion and bodhicitta he has to this text.

Who it’s for:

Engaging in a Bodhisattva’s Deeds is a text that lends itself to both new and seasoned Dharma practitioners. It covers the entire span of practices necessary to progress on the path to full awakening, in an easy to read format with stark imagery and reasonings to inspire and transform the mind.

About the author:

Shantideva lived in 8th century ancient India, was born into a royal family and set to assume the throne after his father. However, motivated to be of greatest benefit to all sentient beings, Shantideva left the royal life and entered monastic life at the renowned Nalanda Monastery.

Working with Anger Workshop
Five Saturdays: April 1, 15, 22, May 6 & 13

Anger plagues all of us on a personal, national, and international level. Yet we see people such as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who have faced circumstances far worse than many of us have faced—including exile, persecution, and the loss of many loved ones—but who do not burn with rage or seek revenge. How do they do it?

Working with Anger by Buddhist nun Venerable Thubten Chodron presents a variety of Buddhist methods for subduing and preventing anger not by changing what is happening, but by framing it differently. No matter what our religion, learning to work with our anger is effective for everyone seeking personal happiness as well as world peace.

Join the author herself for this series of five online talks that will be filled with practical tips, personal examples, lots of humor, and the opportunity to engage in question and answer sessions.
