In our world of hype and exaggeration, where many people want to look good but not be good, to look responsible but not be responsible, the Buddha's teachings get us to consider an alternative, a way to live a truly meaningful life. In this talk based on her latest book, Ven. Chodron discusses ways to identify and overcome our self-centered attitude that pretends to look out for our welfare, but is actually self-sabotaging and primes us to make unwise choices. By becoming aware of how our actions affect those around us as well as ourselves, we come to value having a genuinely kind approach, instead of a hypocritical one where we look good but manipulate others.
