4.B.2.B.1.b. Actual Meditation on Unsatisfactory Experiences (Suffering) [Teachings]


  1. Thinking of the suffering of cyclic existence in general
    1. No certainty
    2. No satisfaction
    3. Having to abandon your body repeatedly
    4. Having to take rebirth in cyclic existence repeatedly.
    5. Changing status repeatedly, from exalted to humble.
    6. Essentially being alone, no friends.

    The unsatisfactory nature is summarized in 3:
    1. The unsatisfactory experience of suffering and pain
    2. The unsatisfactory experience of change
    3. The compounded, pervading unsatisfactory experience

  2. Thinking about the suffering of individual states
    1. Suffering of 3 unfortunate states (discussed earlier)
    2. Suffering of 3 fortunate states
      1. Unsatisfactory experiences of humans.
        1. Birth
        2. Aging
        3. Sickness
        4. Death
        5. Being parted from what you like
        6. Meeting with what you don't like
        7. Not obtaining what you like
        8. Having contaminated physical and mental aggregates
      2. Unsatisfactory experiences of the demi-gods
      3. Unsatisfactory experiences of the gods
